Water “from the tap” must also comply with certain limit values. These include, for example, the contents of nitrate, nitrite, fluoride and lead. But also tests for Legionella are meaningful, because Legionella is a frequent contamination of drinking water pipes in e.g. houses, hospitals, swimming pools and hotels. But also cooling towers, evaporative cooling systems and wet separators offer Legionella a habitat under certain conditions. Legionella are especially dangerous for immunocompromised persons, as contact with aerosols containing legionella (droplet transfer) can cause fatal diseases, similar to pneumonia.
